Hello and welcome,
I’m Monique Thomas, an integrative psychotherapist, author and speaker passionate about helping people move beyond performance-driven living into grounded wholeness.
Much of the distress I encounter in my work stems from the subtle ways identity becomes shaped by pressure - the pressure to succeed, to hold everything together, to be strong, faithful, capable or visible. Over time, this can disconnect us from who we are beneath expectation.
My role is to help you untangle identity from performance, so that your sense of self becomes more stable than the outcomes you achieve or the roles you carry.
Our work is collaborative and client-led. I draw on a holistic, trauma-informed and spiritually sensitive approach, integrating person-centred, compassion-focused and polyvagal-informed practices. Together, we honour mind, body and breath, restoring safety in your nervous system, relationships and story.
I believe healing and growth begin with rest, not simply physical rest, but the kind that allows for emotional repair, integration and renewed capacity to engage with life. Therapy moves at a pace that feels right for you, whether that means exploring deeper relational patterns or focusing on practical strategies for navigating the present.
Alongside individual therapy, I work strategically with organisations seeking evidence-based approaches to wellbeing and am available for speaking engagements. My experience as a singer-songwriter, alongside nearly two decades of developing people within education, criminal justice and faith communities, deeply informs my practice.
I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and regularly attend clinical supervision. I hold a PGDip in Education, an MA in Theology and Transformative practice, and am currently in the research phase of an MSc in Psychology focusing on the wellbeing of creatives.
If you feel ready to move beyond striving and reconnect with a more grounded way of being, I would love to hear from you.
